What to Expect on Your First Visit
When you arrive to our office you will be greeted and welcomed by our receptionist. You will then be asked to fill in some initial biographical information for our records. You should be prepared to discuss why you are attending the clinic and what your specific goals are with treatment.
All historical information will inform and help us develop the most appropriate treatment plan for you so please do not withhold any medical information. If there is anything you are concerned about it is helpful if it is also discussed.

Consultation
A consultation is carried out with a senior staff member and a clinician. St. Catharines Chiropractor, Dr. Mizel will assess you if you are attending for Chiropractic, Acupuncture or for an assessment due to an automobile accident with a Registered Kinesiologist. Our physiotherapist, will assess you if you are going to be receiving Physiotherapy.
Physical Examination
Like other Chiropractors in St. Catharines a physical examination will be carried out by the clinician to determine the most probable diagnosis for your complaints. Examinations are mostly painless. It is not uncommon for some patients to experience some discomfort with the assessment especially if they are having difficulty standing, bending or sitting. Precautions are always taken to minimize your discomfort. If x-rays are needed you will be advised. X-rays can be taken on site or you may have them taken at an Independent Health Facility.
Treatment
Any emergency care will be carried out the first day to ensure you are comfortable and you will be provided with some strategies for home care. You may have any of the following to help provide you with some relief care: ice application, moist heat application, traction therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, interferential current, transcutaneous electronic nerve stimulation, therapeutic laser, acupuncture, muscle stimulator, chiropractic treatment, physiotherapy treatment, massage therapy treatment.
Please plan on 1 hour and 15 minutes for your first visit. If you have had an automobile accident or if there is litigation involved the first visit can be up to 2 hours in duration. Please also bring a list of any medications, accident history, and surgeries to the consultation.
